Sadh Muawiyah or Muawiyah Dam is located in Wadi Al-Khank, east of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah and south of Aqul village, about 15 km away. Its original length is about 30 meters and its height from the bottom of the valley to the level of the surrounding area is about 20 meters. The width of the dam wall at the base is about 10 meters. The middle portion of the dam collapsed due to the earthquakes that hit the area and the volcano that erupted that year close to this dam over the centuries.
There is another dam in the vicinity which is longer and lower and was set up to reserve more flood waters overflowing from the first dam lake. This dam has also been collapsed due to the earthquakes.
The two dams are a prominent example of the engineering of Muslims in the construction of dams and has remained a witness to the greatness of Islamic civilization despite the passage time.
